SPAC® NEWS
Horoquartz has joined SPAC® Alliance.
"More specifically, joining this alliance will allow Horoquartz to collaborate on strategic security issues directly related to the various cyber threats that weigh on companies."
Patrick Paranthoen, Research & Development Director, Horoquartz.
What are your security challenges?
Patrick Paranthoen:
Beyond the cyber risks that regularly make headlines, companies are generally facing an increase in risks that threaten their assets, sites, and employees, among other things. The scope of the NIS 2 directive (which comes into effect in 2024) highlights the critical importance of electronic security professionals. Protection against physical threats is just as essential as protection against cyber threats.
Cybersecurity and physical security are closely linked to ensure overall resilience. Manufacturers of electronic security devices were previously outside the scope of NIS-1, but NIS-2's scope inevitably involves them. This directive takes an "all-hazards" approach, which includes protecting networks and information systems as well as their physical environment against all eventualities such as theft, fire, flood, telecommunications or power failures, or any unauthorized physical access.
Co-constructing secure and resilient environments with our clients and their suppliers is an essential component of the overall security/safety approach.
Why join SPAC Alliance and its ecosystem?
Patrick Paranthoen:
Horoquartz wanted to join the Alliance network to exchange ideas with other market players and work together on security/safety issues, political directions, and new European regulations related to cybersecurity and maintaining European sovereignty on this topic.
Sharing visions and expertise among recognized professionals and developing a common discourse, participating in the creation of standards, is very enriching and motivating for the Horoquartz teams.
More specifically, joining this alliance will allow Horoquartz to collaborate on strategic security issues directly related to the various cyber threats that weigh on companies.
What benefits can the SSCP® protocol bring to the security market? And to you?
Patrick Paranthoen:
The implementation and use of standardized, secure, and open communication protocols ensure a global level of security in an increasingly interconnected world. The security systems ecosystem predominantly uses wired connections based on serial transmission standards like RS485. However, few "standardized" data exchange protocols as secure as SSCP® had emerged for these types of connections.
Audited and certified by ANSSI, SSCP® is being integrated into our products, and we also aim to contribute to its evolution to extend interoperability coverage.
The importance of certifications (and/or standardization) in the security market?
Patrick Paranthoen:
Horoquartz demands the best for its clients. This is why the company is particularly committed to certifications. It's a quality guarantee for the companies that use its solutions. For Horoquartz, the trust relationship with its clients is paramount. Obtaining these labels demonstrates our level of expertise and high standards.
The electronic security systems ecosystem is no longer the closed and isolated one it was a few decades ago. The interoperability of several domains is evident, necessitating standardization initially. Certifications simply guarantee this interoperability to our clients.
